My Quest for Intelligent Customer Service

Each new year I find a task to chronicle. This year it is to find a good customer service department… Intelligent, helpful and above all accurate! I will report on the Good, Bad and the Ugly.

Here’s the first ugly - after having a State Farm policy for 25 years and paying for but never using Roadside Assistance I needed it! A call to the nationwide line assured me I didn’t have the coverage. Great… I spent the next two hours trying to find a wrecker. During the service, my State Farm agent called to say I indeed did have the coverage.

I’m just glad I wasn’t a young mother of three stranded at night on the side of the road.

By the way, State Farm’s tag line is “Great service doesn’t have to cost more.”

Precious.

Parting Notes

Has anyone noticed the new trend of folks adding their favorite quotes to the bottom of their emails? On personal emails, the parting shots/thought/funny/belief/quote is okay…. if that’s the way you want the world to see you, it’s okay. I believe it is wholly bothersome when an employee is adding their own twist to the email going out to the company’s clients.

I decided to start recording these quotes to see if I am off base:

From a realtor, trying to rent me a condo:

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
Life isn’t about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

My comment - This is a double dinger and the lack of proper punctuation is an issue for me.

From a client:

What you think you create, what you feel you attract, what you imagine you become. Adele Basheer

We can’t teach what we don’t know; we can’t lead where we won’t go. Malcolm X

Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing. Albert Schweitzer

My comment: I like the quotes and they are applicable to the business, however, 3?

(to be continued)

officialssay:

The initials of Tennessee State Rep. Julia Hurley, carved into a wooden desk on the floor of the state House. The freshman Republican—who said her experience as a “Hooters Girl” laid the ground for her success—explained the vandalism this way: “It was like 1 in the morning on the last day of the session. I wasn’t thinking straight.”

Poor girl… Having to do her job that she is getting paid to do. AND vandalism the rest of us would get fired for doing. Idiot.
